Berean 2:  Ken Boehr, bus driver; Caleb Ulffers, bus assistant

Ken Boehr always has a smile for corn

Ken:  "I am currently enrolled at Chadron State College to study Music Education and Vocal Performance.  I 've also been helping to start an outreach ministry called Club 20:20 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.  I enjoy jeeping, ultimate frisbee, mountain biking and geocaching, and have also detasseled for many years with NATS.  My family and I attend Indian Hills Church here in Lincoln."

Berean 3/Milford Exit:  Matt Wagner,  bus driver; Margaret Mary Boever, bus assistantMatt Wagner: born to detassel!

Matt has worked with youth and children for a long time.  As the former children's pastor for Lincoln Berean Church, he's been around youth ministry and youth camps a lot.  Currently, he is  teaching Industrial Arts at Irving Middle School.  He and his wife Cathy have three daughters.

Margaret Mary:  "Hi all, I'm excited to be working with you guys in these upcoming weeks. A bit about me: I have completed two years of college at Benedictine, whereat I studied Business and Art. This fall I will be attending Metro Community College in Omaha for their Culinary Program. I thoroughly enjoy all sports, especially ultimate frisbee and tennis. Sculpting, drawing and painting are also things I do in my free time. Actually, sculpting lessons are complimentary for all the kids on our bus...we'll do that with the mud from the fields on our breaks. (-;"

Lincoln Lutheran:  Nina Howe, bus driver; Aaron Holmes, bus assistant

Nina:  Hi everyone!  I'm looking forward to meeting each of you this season.  I have been married for five years to Jason and we have two young children, Landon and Miles.  We are active members of Faith Bible Church. Next spring I'm set to graduate from UNMC as a dental hygienist.  Why am I returning to detassel for an 8th year?  I like detasseling because it's the perfect job where a city girl gets to work hard, get grimy and have fun!  And yes, that handsome guy up there on the Berean 2 bus (Ken Boehr) is my little brother!

Aaron:  "Howdy!  This'll be my eighth year out in the cornfields, and my second as a bus assistant. I was actually a member of Dawn's first detasseling crew way back when I was a chubby little 12 year-old, so I've got some great stories from the good ol' days.  Man, I sound old!  I'm going to be a senior at Doane college next year; my majors are Math and Spanish (entonces, puedo hablar en dos idiomas - pero, mi espanol no es tan bueno como mi ingles), and I go to First Evangelical Free Church.  I really do like detasseling, which is not as strange as it might sound - it has a weird allure.

P.S. to Ken, Ethan, and Jason: if we are working on the same field . . .well, consider yourselves warned!

Parkview:  Dan Shafer, bus driver;  Heidi Paul, bus assistant

Heidi:  I am excited once again to be a bus assistant with Dan Shafer.  My life in the past couple of years has consisted of college studies, trekking through the mountains, and being on the river.  I am taking wilderness and outdoor leadership studies at Prairie Bible College in Canada.  My philosophy, theology, and other Bible courses have been in Canada, but all my wilderness classes have been in the mountains of western Montana. I am certified as a Wilderness First Responder, which includes CPR training, basic life support, and lots of first aid training.  After graduating from college, I hope to get my helicopter license and fly mountain search and rescue missions.  I obviously love detasseling, since I am back again, and I am excited once again to spend a summer in the cornfields with the Parkview crew.

The Force: Ethan Shaw, bus driver;  Jason Harms, bus assistant

Ethan:  "Hey all! My name is Ethan Shaw and this is my second year detasseling. I am 25 and am from Bassett Nebraska. I am going to be the bus driver for the Force, as I am sure you already know. I have worked and lived on a farm/ranch in northern Nebraska my whole life, so I am no stranger to hard work or corn. I am currently a student at the University of Nebraska here in Lincoln studying broadcasting. I also am a coach for the rowing team at the University. I have done many jobs ranging from farm work to door-to-door sales that took me to the East coast. I believe this will be a great opportunity to meet new people and have a great time. I am excited for the season and everything it has to bring."

The air freshener really helps with the atmosphere on the bus!

Jason:  "My name is Jason Harms, and I will be a junior in college (UNL), pursuing a degree in business with an emphasis in marketing.  I attend the Berean Church here in Lincoln and also play the bass guitar in the college worship band as well as in my own band.  Last fall I had the opportunity to go to Kenya, Africa on a missions trip to work in the slums there.  I also have just started my own photography business."

Omaha/Elkhorn:  Elaine Olson, bus driver;  Lisa Strasser, bus assistant

Elaine Olson grew up on a small farm in Northeast Indiana, though back then she focused more on horses than corn!  She oversees an active home with seven children, ages 16 to 3, whom she homeschools.  Though currently living in Omaha, she enjoys tending two gardens and a vineyard.  Her hobbies include baking, scrapbooking, aerobics, swing-dancing and playing French Horn at Grace Reformed Church where her husband, Eric, pastors.

Lisa:  "I’m excited to be the bus assistant for the first Omaha bus.  I’ve been married to my wonderful husband Keith for 23 years and our lives have recently become exciting and scary at the same time.  We will be sending our older daughter off to college this fall and our younger daughter just got her school drivers' permit.  Lauren will be a freshman at the University of Sioux Falls and Kendra will be a sophomore at Omaha Christian Academy   We attend Community Bible Church where I am active in Awana, nursery and kitchen crew for Wednesday night meal.  My interests are yard work, biking, cooking and baking."
